Here are some interesting tips on how we can save the environment one step at a time.

  1. When using an oven, minimize door opening while it is in use; it reduces oven temperature by 25 to 30 every time you open the door.
  2. Lower the thermostat on your water heater to 120F.
  3. Set your refrigerator temperature at 36 to 38 and your freezer at 0 to 5 .
  4. Unplug seldom used appliances.
  5. Wash clothes with warm or cold water instead of hot.
  6. Learn about alternatives to household cleaning items that do not use hazardous chemicals.
  7. Review labels of household cleaners you use. Consider alternatives like baking soda, scouring pads, water or a little more elbow grease.
  8. Use recycled wood chips as mulch to keep weeds down, retain moisture and prevent erosion.
  9. Join a carpool or vanpool to get to work.
  10. Buy used furniture – there is a surplus of it, and it is much cheaper than new furniture.

  1. Hi there! I am your newest follower via twitter from the blog hop:) Lovely blog! You can find me at http://www.bouffeebambini.blogspot.com

  2. Excellent tips and have enjoyed reading through the pages of your site. With two new kids myself I’ve been kind of reading as much as I can to try and learn from others experiences on the raising healthy kids in an environmentally friendly way.

If I might add a suggest to the above list – support grassroots environmental not for profits…
